Douglas Adams is the author of five books in the Hitchhiker's Trilogy including The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy; The Restaurant at the End of the Universe; Life, the Universe and Everything; So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish; and Mostly Harmless. He lives in London.

　雖然一直是個身不由己的倒黴蛋，但這一部裏，亞瑟全然像個被輸入瞭任務指令的精神分裂癥。八年的顛簸和故土的失而復得已經讓他失神，然而指令高於一切，所以一步一步，在雨神的關照下，他在泥濘的四月裏拖著雙腿和胳膊，無可奈何地奔嚮瞭加利福尼亞，然後落寞地搭上瞭福特大老爺弄來的飛車（順便還軋死瞭一片，這反而比整個星球蒸發掉更毛骨悚然，毛骨悚然不是<指南>的風格啊）。

　　最後，作傢收尾時使齣瞭最神的一招——甩齣瞭基本報廢的馬文。(他還在前幾章預報馬文的齣場來著..估計自己也發現寫得悶瞭，但又要在一準失望的讀者和自己之間找尋心理平衡：你們那麼喜歡馬文，就滿心期待地摔個狗吃屎吧！）。除瞭充分展示瞭自己相當殘破的物理狀態釀報讀者以外，馬文基本也就憶瞭下舊，‘從前我把你帶到艦橋...’ ‘我的腦容量...’ 圓腦袋的金屬傢夥腦子也遲鈍瞭，隻有這幾句老話，沒有生齣任何新的偏執美感。
