和鼓鼓的篷帆，全都被它吞了进去。它的牙齿，就是我们头号战舰上的桅杆与之相比，也只相当于一根小小的木棒。
我们在它的嘴巴里耽搁了好久之后，它才把口稍微张大了些，咽了一大口海水，而我们的船只与之相比，实在是太小了，这时早已跟着海水，被吞到了它的胃里。不过在这里我们却反而感到十分安逸，犹如停泊在一个风平浪静的港口里似的。
不可否认，这儿的空气很闷热。而且好多铁锚、索具、小船、帆船以及不可计数的巨轮，全都能在这里找到。这里没有太阳，不见月亮，更不要说星星了。所以我们干什么事情，都得用火把照明。
具体而言，我们每天有两次高出水面，有两次沉入巨怪肚里。巨怪吸水，我们被带到浪头的高处，等它把水呼出去时，我们立即沉入腹底。据我计算，巨怪喝水多时，就好比日内瓦海，容水量至少可达三十公里左右。
已经是我们被禁锢后的第二天了，我们的船只全都沉到了巨怪腹底，这种情形被我们称。为退潮。这时我竟胆大包天，全然不顾我们正身处险境之中：依旧跟船长和几位官员一起，进行了一次小小的散步。当然，散步时我们也必须手持火把。这次我们却发现水怪的胃里，除了我们，还有很多来自世养各国的人，数量有万人之多。他们正想方设法跳出樊笼，重获自由。其中有若干人，已经在这水怪的胃里待了好几个年头了。
为了重获自由这件大事，他们推选了主席，就在我们正在商讨这件大事时，不料这个水怪忽然感到口渴，又开始张嘴喝水了，一股水流迅猛地涌了进来，幸好大家眼明手快，迅速地回到自己的船里，这才避免了一场灭顶之灾。
之后，我们终于等到了机会。等那怪物才把水呼了出去，我们便重新聚拢在一起。我这时被推选为主席，于是我提出自己的建议。
《小学生语文新课标必读丛书：小鹿斑比》讲述的是一只鹿的成长故事，从他刚出世不久一直讲到他成年。森林中生活着一群可爱的小生灵，他们是小鹿斑比、小白兔加纳、臭鼬花吉等，他们经常在一起玩耍。斑比在妈妈的精心抚育和耐心指导下，渐渐长大。他不但学会了生存的本领，还了解到越来越多的知识。他知道还有其他的小鹿，跟妈妈一起生活；还有一些威严而俊美的雄鹿，他的爸爸就是他们中的一员。他渐渐习惯了有时离开妈妈，自己独处一段时间；他渐渐懂得了如何与同类中的同伴、长者，还有其他种类的动物们相处；他学会了帮助朋友，也从朋友那里获得了帮助。这一切与孩子的成长经历非常相似。不过斑比的妈妈一直在告诫他，森林里存在着“危险”，可是他一点儿也不明白“危险”是什么，他要好的伙伴法林、郭波也不明白。直到有一天，斑比在森林里见到一个特别的动物，这个动物用两条腿直立着，看见斑比后，“他从挨近他脸部的高处伸出了一条腿”。斑比本能地逃跑了，虽然他还不知道那个动物就是“人”，那伸出来的一条腿，就是能顷刻间置他于死地的“枪”——这就是森林动物们的危险。

斑比觉得非常稀奇，连忙大声地叫妈妈：“妈妈，你快看，有一朵花在飞。”
妈妈被斑比逗得哈哈大笑：“傻孩孚，那不是花，而是一只蝴蝶，美丽的花蝴蝶。”
蝴蝶灵巧地扇动着她那美丽的翅膀，不停地在斑比身边飞来飞去，斑比眼花缭乱，根本看不清蝴蝶的样子。
这时候，正巧有一只蝴蝶停在了一株蘑菇上休息。斑比这下可高兴了，连忙凑了过去问此，他心中的苦闷油然而生。
不过还好，毕竟每一天都有清晨和黄昏，斑比和妈妈便趁着这时候来草地上透透气，欣赏那美丽的绿风风光。
