Andrew, Judy, and Thudd have landed in the Australian rain forest. They must find a way to the river and Uncle Al, but they're still the size of bugs! They dodge rhinoceros beetles and tree kangaroos, dangle dangerously above the jaws of a carnivorous plant, and have a close encounter with a carpet python. Will they ever reach Uncle Al? Or will they be shrunken Down Under for good?

"Ten-year-old Andrew Dubble, his cousin Judy, and his friendly robot sidekick Thudd, are flying across the Pacific Ocean on the back of an arctic tern. The kids and robot have been miniaturized by mistake, and their goal is to find their way back to Uncle Al, a scientist who they hope can restore them to size. When it looks like the insect-eating bird is about to mistake the insect-sized kids for its next meal, they let go of it. Eventually, they find themselves on the floor of an Australian rain forest. There, the trio must use knowledge of the forest and the creatures that live there to engineer further narrow escapes. Scientific information is incorporated into the dialogue and plot, with additional explanation given in the book's back matter. The robot's disjointed syntax and poor grammar seem questionable choices for an early reader, though the intent is clearly to differentiate the character and to entertain the reader. Early readers who respond to stories with lots of action may find this a fun read. The title is number fifteen in a series, and the book clearly ends in to-be-continued mode with three pages of a sneak peek at the next installment."
