因為我沒有用功，為瞭通過期終考我就打算做理論物理的問題，避免記憶性的知識。可是，考試前夜我由於神經緊張而失眠，因此考得不很好。我處於第一等和第二等的邊緣，所以必須接受考官的麵試纔能最後決定。他們在麵試時問我未來的計劃。我迴答說要做研究。如果他們給我一等，我就去劍橋。如果我隻得到二等，我則留在牛津。他們給瞭我一等。
